SUNGLASS LENSES

Polarized Lenses

Glare

"Polarized lenses block the blinding glare that bounces off horizontal surfaces. The benefits are sharper vision, contrast enhancement and a greater comfort for your eyes"-(Luxottica).

"Glare washes out colors, obscures details, and fatigues your eyes. Some lenses, like Maui Jim's PolarizedPlus2 Lenses eliminate 99.9% of glare, allowing you to see the world at its brilliant best"-(Maui).

The majority of our sunglasses are available with polarized lenses. Polarized lenses are great for individuals that love to fish or who live around water. And they are a must if you are a driver. If you are looking for the best polarized lens try the Maui Jim polarized test by asking a staff member for a demonstration.

Photochromatic

Auto-Darken

Photochromatic lenses adjust to UV light. If it is bright outside they go darker, and in overcast conditions they go lighter. Serengeti is the pioneer and leader of photochromatic sunglass lenses. All of our Serengeti sunglass lenses are photochromatic. If you are interested in eyeglasses that double as sunglasses we also carry Transitions lenses that are photochromatic over a larger range than a sunglass photochromatic lens.

UVA UVB Protection

Sunburns are never good! The most important reason to wear sunglasses is to protect your eyes. Many sunglasses do not provide adequate protection from the suns harmful U.V. rays. UV rays are usually explained as UVA (or rays that cause aging damage) and UVB (or rays that cause burning damage). To adequately protect your eyes sunglass lenses need to say UV 400 protection, or 100% UV protection and be from a legitimate source. All genuine Ray-Ban, Maui Jim and most high-end brands far surpass this protection standard.
